Gutierrez Ministry at Emmanuel Christian School

God has been at work at Emmanuel Christian School this quarter. We have seen more high school students, including new ones at youth group and church events for the first time. Parents are hungry to feed their empty souls on solid food and our first parent training in January was about being a parent of excellence, using the person of Job as an example. Parents reported to teachers the difference that this talk has made in their lives.

In December we concluded the first quarter with a beautiful Christmas program. The theme was “For God so Loved the World” and the choreography, drama, music, and the photos all reflected how Jesus’ birth was a assign of God’s love. The teachers also had a team building activity that Robin organized that was like “The Amazing Race.” We finished with a staff candlelight dinner, (we were obligated to – we have had power cuts here since November due to drought on the river with the power plat!!).

Robin and Wendy continue to call out to God to make Emmanuel Christian School a place that reflects His love and His grace in the community of Macas. Robin continues to administrate under God’s hand and we are praying that this ministry will continue to go forward, not backward. Please pray with us for each staff member to be committed to God’s plan. January 20-24 we took ¾ of the staff on a spiritual retreat with the theme “Being Holy Leaders.” We learned about how God has called us to lead and being people free to walk in holiness before Him. This March Robin is organizing the Junior High and High School Retreat. Pray that God will use this time in the lives of our youth.

Gutierrez Family Update

God has been so good the last few months. We have been blessed with good health and good energy. Joshua and Caleb are enjoying school but Caleb says he really likes pre-school “with mommy” on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at home. God is teaching us to depend on Him more and more. Wendy really recommends a book that she read a couple of months ago called “The Heavenly Man” about a Chinese brother. We enjoyed our Christmas with family and friends and, so far, the new year has been quite busy. 

Funds Needed for Furlough 2010

Our commitment is to come and “report” in to our supporters every 2 years. We are looking at October/November 2010. We are unable to come this Spring due to lack of funds. Please consider giving a gift to Global Outreach designated to our account #2317 for our furlough expenses. The cost of the airline tickets alone is $3,000.00, Quito to Portland round trip. 

Needs/Prayer Requests for the 2010-2011 School Year

• An English Teacher to work alongside Amy Q as we add another grade.

• A Coordinator for our Computer Lab/Website and all of the technological parts of the school, (please email us if you know someone who would be interested).

• School Science Lab: $10,000.00 - $15,000.00 needed for equipment and furnishings.

• The paving project developing the school land, much work to be done including raising $50,000.00 to pay for the rest of the land purchase.

• Wisdom with administration.
